LSI 360 – Life Style Inventory Assessment
The Life Styles Inventory (LSI), developed by Dr. J. Clayton Lafferty, assesses 12 distinct patterns of thinking that impact personal effectiveness. These styles are categorized into three clusters: Constructive (e.g., Achievement, Humanistic-Encouraging), Passive/Defensive (e.g., Approval, Conventional), and Aggressive/Defensive (e.g., Power, Competitive).
The LSI serves as a tool for coaching and self-development, enhancing self-understanding, productivity, leadership capabilities, interpersonal skills, and overall well-being. Research links LSI styles to indicators of effectiveness such as management performance, problem-solving ability, interpersonal relations and organisational culture impact.

How the LSI tool works
LSI training and feedback is based on two parallel lifestyle inventory questionnaires:
- LSI 1 (self description): Individual participants describe their thinking styles, personal effectiveness, and satisfaction at work and home.
- LSI 2 (description by others): Up to 12 peers, managers, and direct reports provide 360-degree feedback on each individual’s behavioral styles and effectiveness.
